The 2008 Marin County Fair will host the most comprehensive, technologically advanced exposition
of alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles ever held in Marin County. The new Alt-Fuel Car Expo,
specifically designed for the public, will take place during the Marin County Fair that will
showcase green practices and businesses throughout the fairgrounds.
Over 20 alternative fuel and high MPG vehicles will be showcased at the event. Vehicles and fuel
types may include hybrid, electric, hydrogen, compressed natural gas, plug-in hybrid, high MPG
gasoline, ethanol and biodiesel. Other eco-friendly vehicles on display will include electric
bicycles, mopeds, and two and three-wheeled scooters.
Public transit will also play a major role at Alt-Fuel Car Expo, with the latest in bus and light
rail technologies. Schools, businesses and individuals will also be invited to submit
transportation-themed projects for display and recognition.
Jim Farley, Fair Director, said the new Alt-Fuel Car Expo will give over 120,000 fair guests
an outstanding opportunity to see an exciting collection of clean-air, fuel-efficient vehicles
available in the marketplace today or concept cars for the future.
Eight million alternative fuel vehicles are now on the road in the United States, more than double
the number in 2000.
"We are looking for the coolest and newest alternative fuel vehicles to spotlight at the county
fair, from unique cars built by home engineers to the most advanced technology now in idea stages
at car manufacturers world-wide," added Farley. For more information, call Jim Farley at
415.499.6400 to participate.
